Berkeley Community Scholars

Berkeley Community Scholars (formerly Berkeley Community Fund) was founded in 1991 supporting a variety of projects that strengthened our community while championing the common good. In 2008 we determined we could make a greater impact by bringing a college degree within reach of Berkeley High School graduates historically underrepresented in higher education. We offer two pathways to a bachelor's degree through our High Hopes Scholarship Programs: One for students bound for four-year colleges and one for students starting at a local community college with the goal of transferring. Our four-tiered approach—college success advising, community volunteer mentors, career readiness, and scholarships—can be the difference in a young person's journey to earning a degree and finding success in the workforce.
